Sideline Medical Coverage For Utah’s Sports Events. Contact Sport. Extreme Sport. Collision Sport.

From high school football sidelines to rugby tournaments to BMX and skate events, Guardian MedX provides sideline medical coverage that includes concussion assessment, orthopedic trauma response, and cardiac capability. OSHA-30 supervisors. Physician-directed protocols. Utah Code 53-2d-210 compliant.

The Risk Profile

Collision Trauma. Concussion Risk.
Cardiac Events.

Contact sports combine three distinct medical demands: orthopedic trauma from collision, concussion assessment with return-to-play decisions, and cardiac risk especially in high-intensity events. Each needs a specific clinical capability on your sideline.

🥊

Collision Trauma

Head, spine, fracture, dislocation. Field-side assessment and immobilization. Transport decision authority for high-acuity cases.

🧠

Concussion Protocol

Standardized sideline assessment. Physician-authored return-to-play decision protocol. Documented for liability protection.

 🫀

Cardiac Risk

AED on sideline, ALS-capable responders. Rapid defib within first 3 minutes is the survival threshold for exertional cardiac events.

Legal Exposure

Utah Code 53-2d-210 plus school district liability standards. Our documentation and credential package satisfies both.

Why This Service Is Different

Three Things Standard Vendors Miss.

The event profile here demands a specific combination of speed, clinical capability, and event-literate personnel. Here’s where most vendors fall short.

/ 01

Return-To-Play Decisions

Concussion assessment is the single highest-stakes sideline decision. Requires standardized clinical protocols and a physician-trained responder — not a volunteer parent.

/ 02

Orthopedic Trauma

Fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries. Field splinting and extraction require trained responders with the right kit — and a stretcher crew that knows football spine-board technique.

/ 03

Cardiac Capability

Rugby, soccer, and hockey events have documented cardiac arrest risk. AED, rapid defib, and ALS transport decision authority on your sideline is the lifesaving baseline.

The Guardian Protocol Applied

Four Stages. Matched To your passion.

Every engagement runs through the same four-stage protocol — translated specifically for this event type. Every stage produces a document your team and your underwriter can read.

01

Assess

Sport-specific risk profile. Participant age and cardiac screening status review. Venue layout. Hospital capabilities. Spine-board readiness check.

02

Deploy

Sideline medic with ATLS-trained Paramedic for contact sports. AED on active sideline. OSHA-30 supervisor for multi-field tournaments. Backup transport on standby.

03

iNTEGRATE

Referee and coaching staff briefing. Athletic training staff coordination. Concussion assessment protocol walkthrough. Hospital pre-notification for transport-ready.

04

Document

Every patient contact in ePCR. Concussion assessment documented with return-to-play recommendation. AAR with participant-count normalized injury rate for program review.

Guardian MedX understands that we want our injured players treated, not coddled, but we also want medical decisions made by qualified people who will not be pressured into clearing someone who should not be cleared. That balance is rare.

Match Secretary Rugby · 2024

We engaged Guardian MedX last season after our previous medical provider failed to respond appropriately to a player. I would recommend Guardian MedX without reservation to any GAA club, Gaelic Football league, or hurling organization operating in the western United States. They have earned the trust of our players and our committee, and that is not a thing easily given.

Extreme Sports FAQ

Questions Organizers Ask.

Q · What's the staffing level for a high school football game?

Baseline: 1 ATLS-trained Paramedic + 1 BLS responder on active sideline, AED on-field, backup transport on standby. Playoff / varsity games may warrant adding a second medic depending on attendance and venue layout. We’ll provide exact staffing in our PEP.

Q · Can you handle concussion assessment for return-to-play decisions?

Yes. Standardized sideline assessment performed by credentialed clinicians. Return-to-play recommendation documented per physician-authored protocol. Documentation provided for school / league / insurance review.

Q · Are you Utah Code 53-2d-210 compliant?

Yes. Guardian MedX operates under an in-house Emergency Physician Medical Director — the same model used by municipal 911 systems. Clinical protocols are owned and maintained by a licensed emergency physician. Utah raised the bar in May 2025; we already meet the full standard, and the audit trail is handled so you don’t have to manage it.

Q · Do you provide sideline medical for soccer and rugby tournaments?

Yes. Tournament-format events (multi-field, multi-match) are a specific specialty. GMMC as treatment hub, sideline medic per active field, OSHA-30 supervisor coordinating. UTV for inter-field response, drone optional for aerial coverage.

Q · Do you cover extreme sports events like BMX and skate?

Yes. High-energy trauma profile, technical-injury trained responders, rapid-transport decision authority. Venue-specific risk profiles developed for vertical ramp, street course, or park-style events.

Q · Do your credentials satisfy UHSAA and school district requirements?

Yes. Utah Code 53-2d-210 compliance plus UHSAA medical coverage guidelines. Medical Direction Letter and Certificate of Insurance with school district named as additionally insured available on request.
